The First Nurses' Week had the following objectives: to pay tribute to the patrons of the Week (1940); to encourage nurses to improve themselves; and to facilitate meetings with school principals. DECREE No. 2,956, OF AUGUST 10, 1938: Sole article. The "Nurses' Day" is hereby established and will be celebrated on May 12, and on this date special tributes should be paid to the memory of Ana Neri in all hospitals and nursing schools in the country.
